National Address on the Progress Made in the Application of National Values and Principles — 2024
📍 National Assembly, Lusaka
Madam Speaker,
We are honoured to address this august House on the progress made in the application of National Values and Principles.
Our administration has continued to make significant progress across all sectors of the economy and society. We have maintained economic growth, advanced our debt restructuring, and attracted record levels of foreign direct investment.
In agriculture, we have seen increased production of maize, soya beans and other crops. We have supported our farmers with inputs, mechanisation and market access. We are working towards food security and making Zambia a net food exporter.
In mining, we have resolved long-standing disputes and unlocked billions of dollars of new investment. Copper production is on an upward trajectory as we work towards our target of 3 million metric tonnes per annum by 2031.
In energy, we are diversifying our power mix with new solar and thermal projects to address the challenges of load shedding and ensure energy security for the future.
We have continued to invest in education, health, water and social protection. Our free education policy, school feeding programme and expanded healthcare infrastructure are transforming the lives of millions of Zambians.
Madam Speaker, we remain committed to the values of integrity, accountability, human dignity and the rule of law. Together, we are building a better Zambia.
God bless Zambia.
