Speech During the Opening of the Fourth Session of the Thirteenth National Assembly
📍 National Assembly, Lusaka
Madam Speaker,
We are honoured to address this august House on the occasion of the opening of the Fourth Session of the Thirteenth National Assembly.
We have restored our country's credibility in the international financial system. Through careful economic management and bold reforms, we have stabilised the kwacha, reduced inflation and restored investor confidence.
To cover the maize deficit caused by the devastating drought of the 2023/2024 season, we imported maize from neighbouring countries, ensuring that no one went hungry during these challenging times.
Most outstanding issues around the mines have since been successfully resolved and the companies are now in business. With the reviving of mining assets, the local economy on the Copperbelt is rebounding.
Government will continue to work diligently to address the cost of living and deliver on our promises to the Zambian people.
In education, health and social protection, we continue to invest in the wellbeing of our citizens. The enhanced Constituency Development Fund is delivering tangible benefits to communities across the country.
Madam Speaker, it is now my honour to declare the Fourth Session of the Thirteenth National Assembly officially opened.
God bless Zambia.
